This comprehensive resource pack is designed to celebrate Black History Month and extend its impact throughout the academic year. It includes four engaging resources that can be utilised in your classroom or across the entire school.

  • Profiles of Influential Black Britons:
Discover ten influential Black Britons through profiles that highlight their achievements, feature impactful quotes, and include discussion questions to inspire classroom conversations. These profiles are ideal for tutor time or can be printed as informative posters for display.

  • Research Project on Black Britons:
Engage students in a research project focused on the contributions and achievements of Black Britons. Students will use their research to create educational content, choosing formats such as social media videos, presentations, leaflets, or infographics.

  • Cross-Curricular Lesson on Protest Music:
Explore a cross-curricular lesson that combines English and Music (or tutor time) by analysing protest songs from different music artists across different eras.  Students will examine the themes and techniques used in these songs and create their own original protest music.

  • CPD Resources for Diversity and Inclusion:
Access CPD resources designed for departmental or whole-school use to facilitate important discussions around understanding privilege.  The resource includes prompts for personal and department reflection, allowing teachers to assess and improve their approach to diversity

  • Teacher's Guide:
The teacher's guide emphasises the importance of incorporating Black history into the British curriculum. It provides key facts and statistics on the lack of Black British history within schools and its impact, offering strategies for meaningful integration across subjects. It also includes reflection questions to help teachers evaluate their current practices. Additionally, it features book recommendations for further exploration.

This resource pack not only enhances educational outcomes but also promotes a deeper understanding of Black history and contributions, making it an essential tool for educators.
